How we do it - The Outward Bound Professional Approach
In partnership with our clients, the methodology is carefully tailored to create programs designed to meet and exceed your goals. Each program follows a four-phase approach.
Assessment: Phase I
A thorough Needs Assessment of your team’s desired actionable outcomes, interviews, questionnaires, and/or meetings determines program scope, goals and methodology. Assessments considered: 360° Feedback, Belbin, Emotional Intelligence, Myers-Briggs™, DiSC™ and Management Styles. OBP is also able to work with tools from your organization.
Design: Phase II
We have deeper discussions to determine individual, team and organizational outcomes. We work closely with our clients to identify the best activities presenting the most appropriate challenges to meet your objectives. As the program begins before the participants arrive, we work in partnership with clients to help set the tone for openness and participation.
Delivery: Phase III
Facilitators take participants through a series of challenges followed by debriefs that ask significant questions and produce memorable and transferable results. The customized program provides a combination of experiential problem-solving initiatives, learning models, ropes courses, wilderness components, reflection tools and academic material, if appropriate.
Follow-Up: Phase IV
Working with clients after the program ensures that the key learnings and behavioral changes are incorporated into the culture. On-going coaching engagements with both individuals and the teams continue the professional development.

They have years of industry experience as agents of change working with corporate clients, large and small, including organizational development, consulting, psychology, business management, experiential education and wilderness training. They are known for exemplary observation skills that allow them to ‘catch a moment’ and help the team recognize the connection to how they work together.
