Thompson Island Outward Bound is honored to receive the 2019 Lands End Love Learning Summer Learning Award.

Given by the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA), the award recognizes quality programs that bring learning to life in informal learning spaces and support families in meaningful ways, particularly those that focus on environmental stewardship and STEM/STEAM.

The award is part of NSLA’s National Summer Learning Week, a celebration dedicated to elevating the importance of keeping young people learning, safe, and healthy every summer, ensuring they return to school in the fall ready to succeed throughout the year.

This year, the NSLA is shining a spotlight on the tenth anniversary of Boston’s citywide summer learning initiative, a rich consortium of 160 out-of-school learning programs (including Thompson Island Outward Bound) that has grown to serve over 14,000 students each summer.
