Along with our annual 4k Trail Run, Thompson Island Outward Bound is a proud members of both the Official Charity Program for the Boston Marathon and Falmouth Road Race's Numbers for Nonprofit program. Combine your passion for the outdoors and Thompson Island's mission of providing outstanding educational opportunities with your love for running by joining one of our teams! Falmouth Road Race


Run in the 50th Falmouth Road Race and support Thompson Island Outward Bound as fundraisers! Thompson Island Outward Bound are proud participants in the Falmouth Road Race Numbers for Nonprofits and are accepting applications for runners to join in the celebratory run as members of Team Thompson Island! 

Please see the 2022 Team Thompson Island application below. Recruitment to participate in the 50th Falmouth Road Race with Thompson Island Outward Bound officially begins March 21st and our application reviewing process is off and running. Contact Devon Cooke with any questions.

Application for the Falmouth Road Race

All Accepted Runners Will Receive:

  • An entry to the 2022 Falmouth Road Race.

  • A customizable fundraising page.

  • A Thompson Island Outward Bound fundraising guide with communication tools, social media templates, and more!

  • An organized group training run.

  • Fundraising support and guidance through one on one coaching.

  • Swag and gifts from Thompson Island Outward Bound.

Application and Race Requirements:

  • The 2022 Falmouth Road Race will be held on Sunday August 21st.

  • All accepted runners for the Thompson Island Outward Bound team must pledge to raise at least $800 to earn their entry and must meet the fundraising minimum by Friday August 19th, 2022
  • Upon registering for the 50th Falmouth Road Race, all accepted runners must pay an additional fee of $200 to the Falmouth Road Race (amount set by the Falmouth Road Race).

  • All runners will adhere to the rules and regulations put forth by the Falmouth Road Race.

Boston Marathon


Want to run the 126th Boston Marathon and support Boston students at the same time? As a proud official Boston Athletic Association Charity Partner in the 2022 Boston Marathon, we have a limited number of invitational entries to be used exclusively for fundraising, so now’s your chance!

Recruitment to participate in the 126th Boston Marathon in-person race through the Official Charity Program officially begins December 6th, 2021, and our application reviewing process is off and running. Applications for the 2022 Boston Marathon are Now Closed

All Accepted Runners Will Receive:

  • An official bib for the 2022 Boston Marathon®.

  • A customizable fundraising page.

  • A Thompson Island Outward Bound fundraising guide with communication tools, social media templates, and more!

  • Organized and supported group training runs, and a day of community building and learning on Thompson Island this spring.

  • Fundraising support and guidance through regular team emails, social media groups, and monthly team calls.

  • Swag and gifts from Thompson Island Outward Bound.

Application and Race Requirements:

  • The 2022 Boston Marathon® will be held in Monday April 18th, 2022.

  • All accepted runners for the Thompson Island Outward Bound Marathon team must pledge to raise at least $7,500 to earn their 2022 Boston Marathon® entry and must meet the fundraising minimum by April 22nd, 2022.

  • Accepted runners must pay a $200 team fee (which will be credited to fundraising).

  • Upon registering for the 126th Boston Marathon, all accepted runners must pay an additional fee of $370 to the Boston Athletic Association (amount set by B.A.A.).

  • All runners will adhere to the rules and regulations put forth by the B.A.A., including but not limited to their vaccination policy
