Kevin Coleman has been named Chief Financial Officer for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center after a search led by Arts Consulting Group (ACG). Located in the Boston Harbor Islands National Park area, Thompson Island is a chartered member of the Outward Bound USA network that provides adventurous and challenging outdoor learning programs for young people from diverse economic backgrounds with programs designed to inspire academic achievement, leadership, and teamwork. With a research based program design and independent evaluation showing remarkable gains in student skills, it is one of the most respected Outward Bound centers in the U.S. and a strategic partner to dozens of Boston area schools.
Mr. Coleman is a graduate of Babson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Investments who has completed additional graduate level studies in strategic and marketing management at Harvard University’s Extension School. He has led a distinguished thirty-year career as a leader in financial oversight and systems implementation in a diverse set of organizations ranging from Cadbury Commons, an assisted living retirement community, to Lite World, a $20 million commercial sales agency. Mr. Coleman has also served as a lead volunteer for numerous community organizations, including Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger, Share our Strength’s Taste of the Nation – Boston, The Greater Boston Food Bank, WBZ’s Telethon for Children’s Hospital, and SPES, a Supplemental Program for Education Skills for Boston Inner-city Children.
